Project Discription

The only guildline for this project, was to choose an emerging technology and to find a way to combine it with some aspect of nature. I had really wanted to explore how the technology of Augmented and Virtual reality. To combine it with nature I thought that I could physically build my own AR lens that would discribe plant and wildlife to you.

Something we had to consider was how the intention of our invention would affect the people using it. The ethics behind our concepts and how accessible it would to others.

I spent a considerable amount of time trying to find the best app to bring my concept into reality. I had a big list that after trail and error kept getting shortened, from 10 to 4 to 2 to 1. For the full list, download the processbook available at the bottom of the page.

Here I considered creating usable QR codes simply for the usability of the prototype.

This shows how the prototype would scan an object. To try and test the programn to see if it worked, I tried using a domino. However, that was too simple for the computer to read. I then used the journal I was taking notes in and the the programn could scan and recognize the book. After that I could get it to place objects once it recognized an object.
